Game Summary: Ukraina started the Louis Riel Spring season after winning the Louis Riel Winter season. They were hoping with their solid play to bring home another award to add to their collection. With many more teams in the league it was going to be a tough task, but with a solid lineup they have a good chance to repeat. The first game was against a very tough opponent but the boys cam ready to play. The game started with both teams trying to get the first goal and chances were had on both sides. Ukraina played well defensively and did not give the opposition may opportunities on goal but when they had chances our new keeper Jason Olinski made the necessary saves to keep the game tied at 0-0 in the first half. In the second half a defensive mistake and miscommunication gave the ball away and the opposition scored in the first 5 minutes to go ahead 1-0. Ukraina were down but kept up their good play and were unlucky to tie the game on several occasions. Finally in the last 5 minutes Nate LaFosse made a great run on the left side, beat a couple of defenders and passed the ball to Marc Lapointe, who made a great run for an easy tap in to tie the game 1-1. Ukraina pressed the last five minutes and had a few chances to win the game, but it was not to be so. This was a good start to the spring season.

Nate played a good game up front, creating some scoring chances and beating a couple of opposition players down the side line and making a great pass to Marc lapointe for the tieing goal.

Result: 5 - 0 Win
Game Summary: Ukraina played a tough match this evening, with both teams playing well defensively, and not giving up too much. Alex Zaslavsky broke the deadlock just before halftime with a good header off a Vince Didkovsky corner. Early in the second half, Marc Lapointe broke forward from defense, and beat a few men and tucked home the second goal for Ukraina. Mike Podgorski, who got the start in goal, was making some great saves, and good distribution throughout. Up next was Chris Stead, who was in a good position to slide home Ukraina's third, before Bryce Motiuk hammered home a goal from a bad angle to make it 4-0. Andriy Azarov rounded out the scoring on a free kick in the last 5 minutes. Mike Podgorski recorded the shutout.

Mike made some solid saves, and his distribution was fantastic.

Result: 4 -1 Win
Game Summary:Ukraina came out with another solid, well-rounded game versus Stingers. AZ opened up the scoring from a nice cross from Vince. Nate then followed up with a nice turn-and-shoot goal. Ukraina continued the 2nd half with a superb free-kick goal by Vince. Stingers got a goal back in the latter stages of the 2nd half before Nate scored his 2nd of the game with a few minutes left to secure all 3 points.

Nate was a constant threat going forward.

Game Summary: Ukraina played a tough team today, couldn't get things going, were not focused and learned a good lesson in discipline today.

Result: 3 - 1 Loss
Game Summary: Ukraina came out strong in the early stages of the game with Bryce scoring a great goal after some superb passing amongst the team. The opponents then began to turn the tide with 2 goals in the 1st half to go up 2-1 at halftime. Ukraina created quite a few scoring chances in the 2nd half but were unable to capitalize. The Breakers were able to score on a header midway through the 2nd half to secure the victory 3-1.

Bryce Motiuk
In addition to his goal, he was seen all over the field, winning tackles and providing some nice scoring chances for his team mates.

Result: 4 - 1 Loss
Game Summary:Ukraina played a very tough team in Cobra Kai. After going down 1-0, Andriy Pawlowsky was able to battle through a scramble and poke home the ball to make it 1-1. Cobrai Kai then put home 2 goals before the 1st half was finished. Ukraina came out on fire in the 2nd half, only to be denied goals by the posts and crossbar. The boys pressed to try and tie up the game but were caught pinching up front as their opponents scored a late goal to make the final 4-1 in favor of Cobra Kai.

Result: 3 - 2 Win
Game Summary: Ukraina played a very good game today, with a few players missing due to rest from the playoff run in the past few days, Denis Pogrebinski, and Myk Shaforostov were called up and did a great job. Andriy Panchuk got a goal, and Nate Lafosse scored 2. Jason Olinski had a solid game in goal.

Result: 3 - 2 Win
Game Summary: Ukraina played one of their weaker games today, not sharp, but the drive we have got us through to grind out the result. Vladdy opened the scoring with a great finish, before Nat Lafosse scored a second for Ukraina. We then took our foot off the pedal and allowed Inter to tie the game 2-2. Arsen Gritsenko scored just before the halftime whistle to give Ukraina a 3-2 lead. The second half Ukraina were under a lot of pressure, but held on for the win. Jason Olinski played well in goal.

He worked very hard all game, defended well, won great headers on set pieces.

Game Summary: Ottawa Ukraina continued their recent winning ways with their 3 win in a row. Bryce opened the scoring ten minutes into the first half. Ukraina were unable to add to their lead despite some moments of dominance over their opponents. Jason was called upon in the Ukraina goal to make some key saves to hold the 1-0 advantage. The 2nd half began with more possession from the guys, finished off with a blistering goal from the foot of Serge to go up 2-0. By this point, the opponents were discouraged and posed no threat to Ukraina’s two goal lead. Final score finished Ukraina 2, Thermidor 0.

In addition to his brilliant goal, Serge was seen working hard, winning tackles and creating scoring chances for his team throughout the entire game.

Result: 5 - 2 Loss
Game Summary: A tough outing for Ukraina this week as it was a game of missed chances and costly mistakes. The teams exchanged goals early the half with Nate scoring from a free kick for Ukraina. The Stingers went up 2-1 just before halftime. The Stingers scored early in the 2nd half to go up 3-1 when Nate scored on yet another free kick to make it 3-2. After some great passing plays and plenty of scoring chances with no goals from Ukraina, the Stingers secured the win two more goals to finish up as winners by a score of 5-2.

Vlad was the hardest working player on the field all game, Vlad lead by example with countless tackles, great passes and great anticipation of plays in the game.

Result: 4 - 1 Loss
Game Summary: Ukraina same out with a solid game plan against one of the top teams in the league. After a strong defensive half, Nate scored a brilliant goal to give Ukraina a 1-0 lead by half-time. The 2nd half saw the Moroccans come on strong and start wearing down the Ukraina defense. Morocco made full use of their scoring chances by netting 4 goals in a row within a 10 minute span to take full control of the game. Ukraina would create quite a few scoring chances but were not able to capitalize.

Paul had a very strong game on defense and shut down the Moroccans top scorers.

Game Summary: Ukraina took the lead 10 minutes into the 1st half with a goal from Bryce. The lead could have been extended but numerous players missed good scoring chances. The 2nd half saw Ukraina get punished for their mistakes where the opponents scored 3 unanswered goals. Final score 3-1 for the Breakers.

Ottawa Ukraina Louis Riel vs. Cobra Kai
Tuesday, April 26, 2011 @ 8:00pm
Location: Louis Riel
Result: 3 - 3 Tie
Game Summary: In the final game of the spring indoor season, Ukraina were up against the first place Cobrai Kai team. Ukraine came out on fire with an early goal by Nate followed by a goal by Bryce. Cobrai Kai got one back before the end the 1st half. The game was tied up midway through the 2nd half before Walter scored a goal from long range to make it 3-2 Ukraina. With time ticking down, Cobrai Kai got a lucky header off the post and into the net with 5 minutes left to tie up the game and it ended 3-3. Ukraina finished off the season on a positive note and will take the experiences into both teams’ respective summer seasons.

Leading by example with his goal in the 1st half, Nate had what seemed to be an endless amount of energy all through-out the 2nd half. He was seen sprinting up and down the field, supporting the attack and then quickly recovering to defend.
