Location: University of Ottawa
Result: 1 - 0 Win
Game Summary: Ottawa Ukraina played their first summer 2010 outdoor game and you could feel the excitement and nervousness of the players after a long indoor season. Ukraina know that their goal is promption to MC 1 and anything else would be a disappointment. So it was very important to make a statement in this game againts last years tough rivals, the Stallions. The nervousness showed early in the game as players were getting their legs back, and the passing was not up to standards early in the game. The opposition was playing much better and had a few chances to score but could not capitalize. At about 15 minutes into the match the tide was starting to shift and Ukraina started to gel and started attacking the goal and had some chances to score. At about the 16th minute, Danilo Popowych cut off a pass in the opposition zone, made some good moves and crossed the ball to Quinn Abugov at the top of the six, and Quinn beat the keeper for his first ever Ottawa Ukraina goal to make it 1 - 0 Ukraina. From there the game was back and forth with Morgan making some key saves to preserver the lead. The half ended 1-0 Ukraina. The second half was pretty much the same for the first 15 minutes with the opposition getting frustrated by Ukraina and the game started to get a little chippy, with some though tackles on both sides. Neither side could manage to score. The opposition was pressing hard for the last 10 minutes, and Ukraina were visibily getting tired, but the defence kept the opposition from scoring and Morgan made some good saves to end the game 1 - o Ukraina and a crutial 3 points to start the season. Morgan Kenny played well in goal to preserve the shutout.
