League Game
Ottawa Ukraina NCISL Open Div. 1 vs. Saigon United
Sunday, May 23rd, 2010 @ 6:30pm
Location: Claudette Cain
Result: 3 - 1 Win
Game Summary: The season kicked off on what turned out to be a long weekend, and it showed in the numbers, as Ukraina had no subs on this day. The long weekend seemed to be an issue for the opposition as well, as they started off short handed, with 9. Ukraina were given a lot of space to move the ball forward as Saigon were defending at all costs. Despite this, off a layoff from Luke Makischuk, Andriy Panchuk managed to find the back of the net putting the score at 1-0. The rest of the half saw more chances, as everybody was playing well and seeing some good runs by Artem Padalko and Serge Terekhov down the lines. But there was nothing more to show. In the second half, the opposition now had 11 players, and their fresh legs made a difference earlier. Saigon was able to tie things up and the missed chances earlier in the game seemed to be haunting Ukraina, as on this hot day it was tough to find extra energy. The game continued back and forth a little more even, and finally Luke Makischuk was able break the deadlock on a good individual effort going 1 on 1 with the keeper and burying in the clutch. The better play continued, and near the end of the game, off a quick free kick, Matthew Kenny scored off a great long distance effort too finish off the scoring. Morgan Kenny played a great game in net.
Man of the Match
Joey Halka
Joey played a solid game in the back, cutting the opponents attacks short and moving the ball well up the field.

Kablamo came back though and scored themselves to tie the game up at half time. The second half saw more of a back and fourth game. Ukraina struck first on a well taken free kick as Luke Makischuk slotted in a goal short side past the wall. Unfortunately the lead could not be held and the game was deadlocked at 2-2.
