Result: 6 - 1 Win
Game Summary: After a 6 week rest after a very sccessfull summer season, the 1st of 3 Ottawa Ukraina teams played their first indoor game of the winter season. In the pre-game it showed that every one was eager to get started. Ukraina started with a lot of energy and from the oppening whistle attacked the opposition goal. Ukraina were rewarded with Alex Zaslavsky scoring 2 goals and Ukraina were up 2-0. Before the first half ended Marc Lapoint added another to make it 3-0 for Ukraina. Second half started a little slower as players were showing their tired legs after a long layoff and allowed an early goal by the opposition and the score was 3-1. Ukraina did not let up and startted to playe their game again and controled the second half. 3 more goals were added by Bryce Motiuk, Sergey Terekhov and Corey Syrnyk and a solid first win of 6-1.

Corey played a solid game in the mid-field making some great runs and tackles as well as adding a goal

Result: 4 -3 Win
Game Summary: Ukraina was coming off a convincing win from last week but the competition was going to be tougher this week. Ukraina wanted to continue building on their strong play and came out with passion and hard work and were rewarded by a goal from Paul Cheliak very quickly to make it 1-0 Ukraina. The opposition played a good game and tied the score at 1-1. Ukraina was playing a good hard working game and Nate LaFosse made a great run and put Ukraina up 2-1 with a good finish. That's how the first half ended. The opposition cam out strong at the beginign of the second half, and with Ukraina sitting back on their heels a little, scored 2 goals to put them up 3-2. Ukraina did not give up and pressed for the equalizer and were rewarded with a penalty kick. Alex Zaslavsky stepped up and with a great shot tied the game at 3-3. The game was getting somewhat tense with some hard tackles, but Ukraina ket pressingfor the winning goal. Andriy Panchuk made a couple of quality saves to keep the game tied and then in the last five minutes Marc lapointe made a great run and with a fantastic finish beat the keeper and put Ukraina up 4-3. Ukraina played the last minutes defensively and won the game 4-3.

Nate played a strong game up front making some good runs, beating defenders and adding a goal.

Result: 5 -5 Tie
Game Summary: Ottawa Ukraina were facing a their toughest oppeonet of the season, and as luck would have it had only 1 sub on the sidelines, so to say the least this was going to be a tough test. Ukraina started off very strong with a lot of pressure and it paid off as Bryce won the ball in the opposing end with some hard work and scored to make it 1-0 Ukraina. The pressure paid off again and Nate forced the opposition to pass back to the keeper which resultad in an own goal and Ukraina were up 2-0. Ukraina kept up the good play and Mike Podgorski scored a nice goal from a great feed from Bryce Motiuk and the score at the end of the first half was 3-0. Ukraina started well in the second half and Bryce scored a goal with a fantastic strike from half to make it 4-0 Ukraina. This is when the wheels fell off and Ukraina was getting tired and made some mental errors and allowed the opposition to score 5 unanswered goals. The boys did not let up and kept playing until the end and pressed for the equalizer. Nate LaFosse received a great pass and had a clear shot on net but was fouled and was awared a penalty kick. He stepped up and scored to draw the teams even. The match ended with a 5-5 draw. Andriy Panchuk played a good game in net.

Bryce played a stron game in the midfield, making some great runs, having many chances on goal and adding two goals.

Result: 4 - 3 Win
Game Summary: Ukraina were in for a tough match tonight as they were playing the top team of the league. Even thought Ukraina were short on numbers, they knew that hard work would give them a chance to win the game. Ukraina did not disappoint and pressed from the openning whistle and were rewarded by a goal from Nate LaFosse, and Ukraina were up 1-0. Alex Zaslavsky added a second goal with a great strike into the left bottom corner to make it 2-0 Ukraina. Then Artem Padalko playing his first game scored a great effort to put Ukraina 3-0. Before the end of the first half Bryce Motiuk continued his 4 game scoring streak scored to make it 4-0 Ukraina. The second half did not start well for Ukraina as the boys made some mental mistakes and the opposition got some breaks on deflections and scored 3 goals to put Ukraina under pressure. Ukraina did not give up and continued to defend and did not allow the opposition to draw even and the game ended 4-3 for Ukraina. Andriy Panchuk played in goal.

Jeff played his first game of the season and had a great game in the midfield, passing well and working the wing back and forth.

Game Summary: Otttawa Ukraina have been in very good form with an amazing work rate to keep their season unbeaten and wanted to continue the trend tonight. From the first whistle Ukraina was in control of the game and Paul Cheliak was first to score on a great header to make it 1-0 Ukraina. With full control of the game and constant pressure Bryce Motiuk added a goal, to continue his 5 game scoring streak, to put Ukraina up 2-0. The Nate LaFosse made a great run and slotted a third for Ukraina, with him being also on a 4 game scoring streak. To finish off the first half, Sergey Terekhov, with a great finish scored the fourth goal and Ukraina were up 4-0 at the end of the first half. The second half was pretty much the same, with Ukraina controling the play, with every player working very hard to stop the opposition attacks. Jeff Cheliak added two goals in the second half to put the game out of reach and the game finished 6-0 Ukraina. Andriy Panchuk played well and got the shutout.

Paul had a great game in mid-field making some great forward runs, defending well and scored a goal with a great header.

Result: 2 - 2 Tie
Game Summary: Ukraina still unbeaten were for a tough game ttonight, with some players missing from the squad. The game started with both teams pressing for a goal with both the opposition and Ukraina getting some chances. The opposition managed to score first to put Ukraina down 1-0. Ukraina was unfortunate not to score and missed some good chances. This allowed the opposition to pass the ball and Ukraina made a mistake and allowed the opposition to go up 2-0. The boys did ot gave up and continued their hard work to try to get a goal back, but the 1st half ended with the score remaining a 2-0 for the opposition. The second half saw Ukraina play a little better and getting some chances, but could not score. Ukraina hit 3 crossbars and were unlucky until the final 8 minutes. With constant pressure and some great passing between Nate LaFosse and Bryce Motiuk, allowed Bryce to continue his scoring streak and he put Ukraina back within 1 goal, with a great strike. Ukraina kept up the pressure and attacked to get the equalizer. Mike Podgorski made a great play out of the corener, assed the ball to Nate LaFosses who converted with a back heal into the net to make the game even at 2-2. With only a few minutes left Ukraina were unlucky to get the go ahead goal and the game ended 2-2. Andriy Popowych played well in goal.

Bryce continued his 6 game scoring streak and scored a great goal to give Ukraina a fighting chance in the game.

Nate had a strong game as striker, finishing a sneaky goal to tie the game for Ukraina and had great pace up front.

Result: 1 - 0 Win
Game Summary: Ukraina were continuing their quest for the unbeaten season, and maintain their first place position. This was a tough test against a very good passing team. Ukraina played very well from the start, allowing the opposition to pass the ball around but the defense played very well in the back and was not allowing the opposition may quality chances on goal. Most of the shots were from far or very weak which Andiry Popowych did not have any problems with. Ukraina had several chances but was not able to score, and the first half ended 0-0. The second half started the same way and neither team could score with very few chances. Andriy Popowych made a couple of key saves to keep the game 0-0. Ukraina were getting some better chances but could not score either. Finally, of a great corner kick, just off the tip of the keepers gloves, the ball bounced of a well placed Mike Podgorski, and Ukraina was up 1-0. Then the defense shut down any opposition attacks and Ukraina continued their unbeaten streak at 7 games. Andriy Popowych played well in goal.

Roman played a solid defensive game, marking well and not allowing much of an attack for the opposition.

Result: 7 - 2 Loss
Game Summary: Ukraina were unbeaten this season and wanting to continue their good play. The night did not start very well as the game was delayed and Ukraina were a little disorganized. From the first whistle Ukraina did not play well and allowed the opposition to pass the ball very easly and were unable to mark well. This allowed the opposition to place a lot of pressure on the defence and the keeper. The opposition was much better this night and outscored Ukraina 7-2, but Ukraina were never in this game. Let's hope that this was a learning experiance and a better showing the next game. Andriy Popowych played in net.

Result: 5 - 0 Win
Game Summary: Ukraina wanted to bounce back from a forgetable game from the previous week and came out strong on this night, controling the game from the start. Ukraina had most of the chances and Alex Zaslavsky capitalized and scored to make it 1-0 Ukraina. Ukraina was rewarded with a second goal by Jeff Cheliak to make it 2-0 Ukraina. The boys were playing well and did not allow the opposition any sustained pressure on their net. Alex Zaslavsky added another goal to make it 3-0 before the end of the 1st half. The second half was pretty much the same, with Ukraina controlling most of the play and Alex Zaslavsky played fantastic on this night and added 2 more goals and the game ended 5-0 for Ukraina. Andriy Popowych got the shutout.

Result: 4 - 1 Win
Game Summary: Ukraina were playing the bottom team and needed this win to stay on top of the league. The boys did not disappoint and cam out playing wiht energy. Artem Padalko scored a goal to put Ukraina 1-0 up. Ukraina controlled most of the game and Nate LaFosse scored a nice goal to put Ukraina 2-0 up.The first half ended. The seconf hal was pretty much the same with Ukraina controlling most of the game. Bryce Motiuk added another goal and Ukraina were in a commanding lead of 3-0. Andriy Popowych scored the 4th goal for Ukraina, before some sloppy play allowed the opposition to break the shutout. The game ended 4-1. Walter Usyk played in goal.

Result: 5 - 1 Loss
Game Summary: This was Ukraina's last game before Christmas break and a win would almost guarnatee first place in the league. Tonight was not a good night for the boys as the opposition came out to play and it showed on the field. The boys were not into the game and some poor marking allowed the opposition to score 3 goals in the first half and Ukraina were down 3-0. The second half was only marginally betterand Ukraina allowed another goal to go down 4-0 before gettting a goal back from Nate LaFosse, but the opposition added another goal and this was not a good loss for the boys. Evan Einarsson played in goal.

Bryce had a good game in a loosing cause and scored the only goal for Ukraina.

Result: 1 - 1 Tie
Game Summary: Ukraina needed a good result to stay in first place in the division. After a two week break things did not start well for the boys and it showed that everyone had too much food and drink as players were slow. The opposition scored in the first 5 minutes and Ukraina were again on their heels. Ukraina was nder constant pressure and Andriy Popowych kept the game close wit some great saves. The second half started a little better and Ukraina had more chances on goal but could not capitalize on their chances. Andriy Popowych was solid in nets and with less than 5 minutes remain Andriy Pawlowsky scored the equalizer from a scramble in the opposing box to tie the game and gain one huge point. Andriy Popowych played well in goal.

"Beast" had a great all around game, never giving up on the ball and scoring with less than five muntes left to tie the game.

Game Summary: This was the last game of the winter league and a win would guarnatee first place and the championship. The game was a battle in the first half with both sides having some chances. Andriy Popowych made some great saves to keep the game tied at 0. That is how the first half ended. The second half was the same as the first, with both teams having chances and Ukraina could not capitalize on any of them. Finally Vince Didikovsky took the ball and had a side foot shot which sneaked into the lower corner of the net. Ukraina were up 1-0. The opposition tried their best for the equalizer but again Andiry Popowych made some good stops and Ukraina were the champions of the Louis Riel Winter League. Congratulations to all that contributed to a great season and 1st place!
