Game Summary: Ottawa Ukraina were playing their first game of the Louis Riel indoor season after more than a month layoff from the summer season. All were excited to get back on the pitch. Ukraina were playing a side that were short players at the start of the game and had control; of the game until a bad call resulted in a penalty kick against Ukraina and the score was 1-0 for the opposition. Ukraina continued to control the game with some good passing and hard work. Nate LaFosse picked up a great pass from the back and was fouled for a penalty kick. Nate took the penalty and with a brilliant finish tied the game 1-1. Ukraina Kept the pressure up with the opposition now with a full squad and were rewarded with a the second goal with a great turn and shot into the low right corner, where the keeper had no chance, by Myro Palenychka and Ukraina were up 2-1. That is how the first half ended, with Ukraina in control of the game. In the second half, Ukraina continued to control the game with great passing, some good attempts on goal. Alex Zaslavsky scored a fantastic side foot volley from inside the six, from a great corner kick from Nate and Ukraina were up 3-1. Then with some sloppy play and poor marking the opposition were able to get one back to make the game close at 3-2. The lads did not give up and kept pressing to put the game away and with some great effort by Andriy Azarov and a favorable bounce, Myro had his second of the night with an easy tap in. The game was well in hand and Ukraina were defending great until the last 2 minutes of the game and allowed the opposition to get one back, but the game was never in doubt and Ukraina had their 1st win of the young season. Even played in goal.

Myro worked hard the whole game and had some great runs on the wing while adding two goals.

Result: 5 - 4 Loss
Game Summary: Ukraina were playing a good team tonight but were up for the challenge coming off a win the previous week. The game was a see-saw battle in the first half. The opposition were able to score first and the game was 1-0. Ukraina battled back and tied the game with a goal by Nate Lafosse. Ukraina gave up another goal with some bad marking to go down 2-1. Alex Zaslavsky got Ukraina even and the first half ended. In the second half Ukraina did not have much luck and were out played at the start and went down 4-2. Then Ukraina got a goal by Bryce Motiuk the make the game close. Ukraina battle hard but could not score and the opposition managed to score again to make the game 5-3. The boys worked hard, started passing well and had some good attempts on goal. With about 5 minutes left Nate had a great corner kick and Arsen Gritsenko scored with a great header. Ukraina tried to tie the game up and were unlucky not to, and the game ended 5-4 for the opposition. Evan played in goal.

Nate had a great game, making some great runs. Had some good chances on net and adding a goal.

Result: 2 - 2 Tie
Game Summary: Ukraina were playing their third game of the season and coming off a tough loss from the previous week, were eager to get back on the winning side. In the first half Ukraina controlled much of the play and everyone was working hard. Ukraina were passing the ball well and had some good chances to score. In the middle of the half Nate Delivered a great cross onto the head of Arsen Gritsenko who scored with a great finish to put Ukraina up 1-0. That’s how the first half ended, with Ukraina in control. The second half did not start as well as the first and Ukraina were on their heels a little and allowed the opposition to score to tie the game at 1-1. Not long after, Ukraina looking tired now, the opposition scored a quick goal and Ukraina were down 2-1. But the boys did not give up and took over the game from then on, having some good chances on net. Finally Nate scored from a scramble in the six yard box when the keeper could not hold the ball and the game was tied 2-2. Ukraina had some great chance to win the game but it was not to be the night and the game ended with a 2-2 tie. Even played well in goal and a some good stops.

Alex worked hard the whole night, controlling the mid-field, making some great passes as well as making some good defensive plays.

Result: 3 - 3 Tie
Game Summary: Ukraina was coming off a tough game last week and this was not going to be any easier, but they have shown that everyone is up for the challenge and are ready to work hard. Ukraina started well from the first whistle and was passing the ball well and pressuring the opposing goal, but were unlucky to score an early goal. The game was very fast paced at both ends. Te opposition opened the scoring first but Ukraina fought back and Nate scored a great goal to even the score at 1-1. The opposition started pressing harder and eventually scored two unanswered goals. Ukraina did not give up and worked very hard on the pitch and were unlucky to add any goals even though they had some great chances. The first half ended 3-1 in favour of the opposition. Ukraina came out strong in the second half and pressed for their second goal which came of the foot of Nate LaFosse with a great strike from the right side where the keeper had no chance, and the score was 3-2 for the opposition. Evan made a couple of good stops to keep the game close and the Alex Zaslavsky received a good pass and had a great dipping strike over the keepers head to tie the game at 3-3. Ukraina continued to apply the pressure and hit a couple of posts and were unlucky not to come out with a win in this game, but there is always next week. Evan Einarsson played in net.

Result: 11 - 1 Win
Game Summary: Ukraina were in great form this night and from the start took control of the game scoring quickly with Scott Makischuk getting the first goal. Nate LaFosse scored not long after to make it 2-0 Ukraina. Ukraina was having their best game of the season with great passing, great defending and generating a lot of chances on net. Scott Makischul scored his second of the night and Alex Zaslavsky made the game 4-0 with Myro Palenychka and Nate LaFosse adding his second tho end the first half 6-0 up. The second half was not much different and Scott Makischuk added two more goals to put Ukraina 8-0 in the lead. It did not end there and Arsen Gritsenko, Andiry Azarov and Bryce Motiuk added goals to put Ukraina 11-0 up. Ukraina let a goal in in the last 5 minutes not to preserve the shutout. Evan played in goal.

Game Summary: Ukraina was coming off a big win from the previous week and was hoping to continue their great work ethic and their great play. Things started off well and Ukraina were the better team on the pitch with great passing and great chances on net and were unlucky to beat the keeper, who made some great saves at the start of the game. Ukraina manged to get on the board first with Scott Makischuk followed up a great shot by Nate and managed to beat the keeper to the ball to make it 1-0 Ukraina. The opposition pressed hard for a tying goal but the defence was playing well and the mid-field helped in the back line to keep the score close. Finally Ukraina with some great passing scored the second goal by Nate LaFosse to make it 2-0 at the end of the first half. Second half was pretty much the same with both teams getting good chnaces on net, and finally the opposition managed to get a goal back to make it 2-1. Ukraina tried to put the game out of hand but were unlucky to score. The opposition managed to even the score in the later part of the half. Ukraina kept up the pressure and were awarded a penalty kick but were unable to capitalize. The game ended with Ukrain trying desparately to score the third oal but it was not to be on this night and the game ended with a draw. Adnriy Azarov played well in net.

Paul was solid on defense and kept the opposing strikers from getting any good shots on net.

Result: 3 - 2 Loss
Game Summary: The team was down several players with injuries and players out of town. Ukraina started the game on their heels but played well defensively and kept the opposition off the score sheet, but eventually were getting tired and went down 1-0. But the boys did not give up and worked hard and finally Andriy Azarov got Ukraina even at 1-1 and that’s how the first half ended. Second half Ukraina played well and continued with great defense and great counter-attack, getting some chances. The mid-field worked hard to help to keep the game close but with tired legs allowed the opposition to get a goal and were down 2-1. Again Ukraina dug deep and continued to press for the tying goal which came off the foot of Myro Palenchka with a great individual effort to get Ukraina even. It showed that Ukraina were tired and tried hard to defend but in the last five minutes, and running out of gas, Ukraina gave up a goal and could not come back to tie it again. Evan played in goal.

Game Summary: Ukraina were playing a very late game with a depleted squad, with guys out with injury or away. It was a tough go from the start but as has been every week Ukraina worked hard every shift and had some chances to score. Ukraina went down 1-0 but did not give up. With some pressure Ukraina were awarded a penalty kick which Scott Makischuk converted to tie the game to end the 1st half. Second half was the same as the first with Ukraina defending well and getting chances on the counter attack. The opposition put a lot of pressure on the defense and managed to take the lead. The boys worked tirelessly and Bryce Motiuk evened the score at 2-2 with a great finish. Ukraina was playing great, with some good passing and some great chances on net, but were unlucky to get the winning goal.

Game Summary: This was the next game for Ukraina with most of the squad present. The boys were eager to get the game started and get back on the winning track. The game was pretty even at the start of the game and then Ukraina was unlucky to score the go ahead goal. Then the opposition started taking the game over and controlling the play. This allowed the opposition to score the first goal. Ukraina was not fazed and tried hard to get the tying goal. The opposition got another goal in the first half and that’s how the first half ended 2-0. The second half was similar to the first with Ukraina playing well but not able to put the ball in the back of the net. With Ukraina pressing, they were awarded a penalty kick and Arsen Gritsenko slotted the ball home to make the game 2-1. Ukraina tried for the tying goal but the guys were getting a little tired and the opposition scored two more goals to make it 4-1 and put the game out of reach. Evan played well in net.

Game Summary: Ukraina got a quick start to this game with Bryce Motiuk scoring early to give Ukraina a 1-0 lead. The opposition got one back to make it 1-1. Ukraina started taking the game over and Nate LaFosse added 2 goals to put Ukraina up 3-1. The opposition got a late goal in the first half to make the game close at 3-2 Ukraina. In the second half Ukraina proved they were the better team and Arsen scored early to give Ukraina a 2 goal advantage. The for his first ever Ottawa Ukraina goal, Will Read jumped on a rebound and lobbed the ball over the keeper to score a great goal, and the game winning goal. Aresen Gritsenko added a goal on a penalty kick and then Bryce Motiuk scored his second and Nate slotted his third of the game to put Ukraina up 8-2. The opposition scored a goal late in the second half to make the final 8-3. Evan played a good game in goal.

Game Summary:This was Ukrain’s first game back after the Christmas break, and were short on players. It showed that this was a long break as Ukraina did not start the game off very well and were on their heels from the start. The opposition had most of the scoring chances and Ukraina gave up a goal to go down 1-0 and that is how the first half ended. The second half was a little better and the boys were starting to gel together and had some chances on goal but could not put the ball in back of the net. Ukrain were getting tired with the shortage of subs and the opposition was in control of the game and eventually scored another goal to put Ukraina down 2-0. Ukraina tried to get something going but this was not to be the night for Ukraina and they did not manage to score any goals.

Game Summary: This was Ukraina’s last game of the season and the squad was out to try and end the season on a positive note. The game started with Ukraina in on their heels but the defense was playing a very tight game, with Andriy Azarov making some good saves to keep the game scoreless. midway through the first half, Nate LaFosse made a great run down the wing and scored a great goal to put Ukraina 1-0 up. Ukraina was getting better as the game progressed and Myroslav Palanychka, stole the ball off a defender and made the opposition pay for their mistake and put Ukraina up 2-0 to end the first half. This was the last half of the season and Ukraina wanted to preserve the lead but things did not fair well and the opposition added a goal to make the game 2-1 Ukraina. The game was getting chirpy and some bad calls were made. The game escalated and Bryce Motiuk received an unwarranted red card to put Ukraina a man down. Ukraina worked hard to preserve the lead but it was getting tougher as the game progressed. Finally the opposition tied the game. More bad calls and some bad tackles, where Ukraina were given two more yellow cards, one to Mike Podgorski and the other to Arsen Gritsenko. Ukraina were unlucky not to win this game and had some great chances to put the game away but it was not to be on this night. Andriy Azarov played well in goal.
